No Time To Sleep

I made a decision about the Peruvian Highland Wool at Elann

This, this, and this...

Will be made into this:

Jen said that her Highland Wool pilled really badly, and yes, that makes me nervous, but I couldn't find any other negative reviews, and I'm resolved to shave the sweater religiously if necessary. It's little enough money, that I'm comfortable with it. I've never done a project like this before, so I'd hate to spend a ton of money on yarn for it. I think everything will be ok.

I got a lot of knitting done this weekend. I am over halfway done with the neck-warmer/anti-tension/rice-in-a-sock thing, and one third done with the Here and There Cables Scarf. I am waiting until tomorrow to wind up the second two skeins of Nature Wool. I wound the first myself, and at some level enjoyed it, but I'm no idiot. I'll use the ball winder and swift at the store for the other two.

Today is the first day of the Two Weeks of Hell. I have something going on every weeknight for the next two weeks. For example, this evening I had choir rehearsal until 10:00, and got home at 10:30. It is now almost 11:30, I have had a Sominex and am drinking some "Sleepy Time" tea in an effort to calm down enough to fall asleep before it's too late. I am very tempted to wind the yarn for Clapotis, but I need to go to sleep because I need to be to work at a reasonable hour in the morning, and will go straight from work to Knitorious to teach, and won't get home until 9:00 or 9:30. Wednesday and Thursday I have my first two classes of Culinary School, and again won't be home until 10:30. More work on Friday and Saturday. Next week is the same. [whimper]I like spending time at home. [whine] I like having time to shower. Please send caffeine. It's gonna be rough.

The Highland does pill--I have some mittens made out of last year's batch that don't look so hot--but I don't think it's any worse than something like Patons Classic Merino or any comparable soft wool. Knitting it tightly should help, or so I tell myself; I'm getting ready to make the Threepenny Pullover from the Fall IK, and if it pills right away I will be crushed.

I haven't ordered Highland Wool, I think I'll wait for more people to come out with their opinions on wear before making the jump. It's so tempting, though!

Great colors, the mulberry goes well with the blue. Another choice would've been the mulberry with green. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing your progress on this sweater!
