Curses, Foiled Again!

A few days ago, Kelly wrote about how shameful and lowly her stash storage situation was, but I disagreed. I thought it was a lovely way to store stash (which I've been considering lately), and let me tell you why.

She stores her stash under the bed. In an under-the-bed storage box. The advantages:

1. Neither you nor anyone else is reminded of the size of your stash on a daily basis, particularly if you have a bed skirt. You are not wracked with guilt seeing all that neglected yarn, and anyone else you share your sleeping space with will not notice how quickly it's growing (until you out-grow under the bed, of course).

2. When you do want to see your stash it's very neatly laid out and you don't have to dig to the bottom of a bin or bag or something. See?

3. Maybe the presence of the lovely yarn so near to you while sleeping will give you a restful peace. I know when I have a new yarn that I'm in love with, I usually do have it somewhere near my bed, at least for the first night. Now all my yarns will be near me every night.

I love the box I found. It's super-huge, and the lid has a hinge in the middle, so you can open just one side or the other.

Brilliant!

Not so brilliant: it's too tall to fit under my bed.

I've pondered the possibilities: exchanging it for a smaller box, exchanging it for a completely different storage system, and getting bed lifts to raise the bed. Guess what I've decided? That's right, I'm going to spend MORE money, and get the bed lifts. My bed is a pillow-top and the top is really far enough away from the floor already, but the taller the better, I always say. I think it's fun to have to jump into bed.

And here is a picture of where all that yarn used to be:

Clearly, the organization is nowhere near complete.

I think it's better than my current storage plan, which is baskets (very pretty nice basked, one is an antique egg basket) stashed throughout my house... I'm still on the hunt for some kind of cabinet type storage system. Estate sales here I come.

I love a tall bed. Plust you'll gain all that storage spaced for yarn and other stuff. I have all my stuff in plastic drawers by the couch and in the closet. Oh, and in a bag from the lys cause the drawers are full hehe

I LOVE a tall bed! Except don't try to move it by yourself because you'll forget about the lifts and then the bed will fall and you'll hurt your back like a little old lady when you try to pick it up by yourself.

Not like I did that or anything.
