I Learned Something Today

Today I learned a hidden reason I like to knit socks with five needles, not four. When only three needles are in the work, it's harder to lay them flat and tuck them away without fear of breakage.

I'd never thought of that before.

p.s. The first Fancy Silk Sock from Knitting Vintage Socks is going swimmingly. I would post a picture, but Blogger sucks.

This is true!

I learned on three, but switched to four when I read in Knitting in Plain English that using three can cause those ladders at the needle intersections. Using four eases the stress at the intersections. I've never had a problem with ladders since using four.

I learned the very same thing today. I love 5 needles but the sock I'm working on is better on three...darn it!

PRETTY!

Yeah, that's one of my reasons too. Also because I don't have to concern myself with gauge too much.
