When Elizabeth Zimmerman passed away, I did not know who she was, and I was unaware of her passing. Today I know what it felt like to be a knitter on that day.
When the news anchor mentioned the name of Julia Child, I knew how the sentence was going to end. I had thought about this day before, aware of her age, and while she's a legend, I knew she couldn't live forever. I am grateful that she died peacefully, and did not endure a long illness.
I'd like to thank Julia for all of the things she's done for me, for cuisine, for home chefs, for Public Television, and most of all, for women. I have found her to be a fundamental in my culinary education and an inspiration. I will miss her deeply.
"...above all, have a good time." - Julia Child
