I Am the Master of the Universe!!!!!!! or, well...

I'm done. I'm completely done. This morning when I woke up I had no idea that I would finish this today, but something came over me, and I did.

It's my Master Knitter Program Level I. I looked at the yarn earlier today because I wanted to use some of the left-overs to make a block for the Afghanalong and put another red state on the map. I guess that just put it in my head, and I took it out a couple hours ago to see what swatches I had left, and I didn't have any swatches left. I had some to weave in ends and block, and I had some questions to answer, and I had to type out the cable swatch pattern, and write the blocking report, but that was it. It seemed like a lot, but I realized that it probably wasn't much, and that I should just plod on. Like I said, something came over me. So now that's one less thing I need to do. I kind of can't believe it.

It was actually kind of a pain. I suggest you do it when you don't know how to knit, rather than waiting until you do. I already knew 95% of it, but I had to look it all up in Vogue Knitting just to give a reference, which for me was a waste of time; I didn't learn anything from that. I wish there was some way to "test out" of level one. Oh well, there will probably be things I didn't do exactly as they wanted; they'll probably tell me I "killed" my swatches, but they're mostly acrylic and I wanted them to lie flat, so they would go in the binder.

Lifted increase swatch.

A yarnover swatch

The cable I had to do myself, pattern and all.

So now it is time to heap praises and congratulations upon me. The greatest battle is over.

I had no idea you were doing the master program. I've considered doing it in the past.

You are inspiring, my friend. I may actually post something in my journal this week.

Well, it's not the kind of thing you work on at Barnes & Noble; they're all little swatches, and you have to pay attention a little bit. Actually, a lot of the work was the questions and the write-ups. Maybe level II will have more stuff to work on for longer periods of time. I know I'll have to do an argyle sock. Fun, fun!

Beth, I didn't know you were working on the Master's Program. I've had it for a few months and cannot make myself work on it. We have a lot in common, it turns out!! Congratulations on finishing it, I'll be waiting for your results...

Congrats - Maybe you can tell us at B&N how you came to do this. Let us know how you did! dk

Well, consider that it took me almost a year and a half. For an advanced knitter, it's pretty tedious. For an intermediate or beginning knitter, it would be great, though. That's why I'm looking forward to level three for sure. We'll see about level two, if I get around to ordering it. At least it's not all swatches. I don't get this one back for six weeks, I think, so it'll be a long wait to see how I did.
