I Have a Secret, or Else I'm Delusional

I feel like I should be keeping this to myself for one of two reasons: 1. It's just too wonderful, and I'm so excited. or 2. I'm probably wrong.

Last night I got an e-mail from this thing I belong to where I look at web sites and get points, and if I buy stuff I get more points, then I can use the points to get gift certificates. I don't usually buy stuff, and it takes a long time to amass enough points to redeem, but it's not aeons or anything. Anyway, this particular offer was from Barnes&Noble, so I thought I'd do a little browsing. (My class that started last night has six students and I've got a little dough to blow.) The first thing I found was K. Buss' The Big Book of Knitting, which I've been trying to finagle a way to buy on the cheap for a while. Amazon doesn't offer a discount on it, but lo and behold, B&N did. I browsed a little further to try to reach the $25 free shipping deal, and found Sally Melville's new book for only a dollar more than at Amazon. Considering all those bonus points, and the savings on the BBoK, I clicked on "add to cart". Here's the ponderous bit: I have not heard yet of anyone seeing this new book. I have not heard of anyone receiving it or buying it, and believe me, my finger is on the pulse. Amazon is still taking pre-orders, and B&N lists the publishing date as November 2005. I fully expected to receive some error or note about the delay in shipping or unavailability or whatever.

But I did not.

Nor did I receive an after-the-fact e-mail that my shipment was delayed.

In fact, today I received an e-mail that my shipment was packed and ready to be picked up by UPS, within 24 hours I will be able to track it, and listed as contents of this package is the BBoK, and "The Knitting Experience: Book 3: Color" Ship date: October 5.

So, either I know a secret about how to get this much-anticipated tome: Order from B&N, or I am delusional and something is wrong. They packed the wrong book, or the computer is messed up, or whatever.

I will keep you posted.

**update: I just checked Amazon, and they do say now that they ship within 24 hours. It's coming girls, it's almost here.

**another update: The UPS tracking system updated, and the shipment is coming to St. Louis from Memphis, so it's scheduled to be here TOMORROW. Be still my heart. Too bad I have to go to class tomorrow right after work. Maybe I can convince someone in the apartment complex office to leave the package by my door. Ooo. I think I'm going to have to scream out loud.

Ohhhh!!! Lucky girl! You'll have to bring it to knitting if you come next week.

Good luck with the apartment complex. I'm leaving early tomorrow (partly to avoid the baseball traffic) but in reality, to pick up a package from the apartment complex.

Mine got shipped too- from Amazon- yesterday! I can't wait. They said at Stitches Midwest that it would be ready around the time of Stitches East, so I figured it would be sooner than November- yay!

it's true - the book is out! I saw it from a distance at Stitches East (where it had already sold out everywhere by the time I hit the market late on Saturday).
I can't wait to hear your thoughts!
