A Pair of Socks

So what if they don't match?

The pink one is from Knitting Vintage Socks, and the blue one is just a plain old sock made from Austermann "Step" with Aloe Vera and Jojoba oil. Interesting, huh? I usually am pretty good about finishing two [matching] socks before moving on to another pair, but the blue pair is for my voice teacher. I told her that because of my car purchase, I wouldn't be able to take lessons for a couple months in order to put as much money as possible towards the car, and she offered to take a minimal payment plus a "barter" each week. Since I'm not an accountant or lawyer or doctor, and she doesn't need any soy protein powder, she said I could just make her baked goods, or whatever. So I am knitting her some socks. As all knitters know, the monetary value of a pair of handknitted socks far exceeds any real value they might have. But she'll appreciate them a lot. I've been thinking of making her some socks for a while now, I just needed a little push. That's why it's a little small (you can see it in the heel); her feet are smaller than mine. In real life the colors are a little more muted. I love them. I may have to buy some for myself. I'm not sure how much stock I place in the whole Aloe Vera/Jojoba oil thing, but it definitely makes the yarn soft.

ps. My Leetle Bag doesn't fit the Austermann yarn very well. I'll probably add an inch to the height if I make another.

Both are good looking socks. I'm so glad your voice teacher was willing to work with you. :-)

I have a friend who only ever makes one sock of a pair, and she mixes and matches them every which way. Works for her.
