Official Stitches Midwest 2006 Haul

[As always, please click to see the pictures larger]

First, the socks:

They are, from left to right, Fly Super Sport, Tess' Super Sock yarn, Blue Moon Fibers Socks That Rock in Scaponia, and a tencel/wool blend from Ellen's 1/2 Pint Farm. The yarn from Tess' and Blue Moon is not new to me. I've always wanted to buy something from Ellen's 1/2 Pint Farm, and now I have. The Fly Super Sport* is new, and was a bit of a find. It was in a small booth in a corner, but the colors were spectacular. I absolutely fell in love with this particular skein, and I couldn't leave it behind.

Here's a closer view:

Next, clockwise from the top: random cheap yarn for an undetermined project, Debbie Bliss Merino Aran for the Slip-Stitch Pullover from Sally Melville's Knit Stitch, Berocco Touche for one of two projects (possibly the Wedgewood Blouse by Norah Gaughan from a recent IK), and two skeins of Koigu for a pair of gloves.

Next, we have the lace projects: 2400 yards of Cherry Tree Hill Merino laceweight for an as-yet undecided project, two skeins of Blackberry Ridge Silky Merino for a lace pattern I got last year from Black Water Abbey, and one skein of Brooks Farm Limited Edition I (wool, silk and viscose), which I think I will make into a scarf-width Tendrils. It was another skein whose colors struck me.

And last, but not least, some bargain-basement Dale Heilo for the North Island Vest. It was a good thing that lady at the Yarn Barn helped us out because Gwen and I are not gifted in the color-picking-out area (at least, not yet).

Prepare to be subjected to multiple color schemes made with Stitch Painter.

So that's it! Mostly pre-project-determined, and not a mountain of sock yarn. Also, no crazy new hobbies like last year. Spinning silk hankies by hand? Not as fun and easy as it looks. Just sayin'.

*Contact info for the Fly Super Sport: it is dyed by Pat Fly at www.angoravalley.com, (360)264-2030.

Nice haul! I'm hoping to see you there next year instead of living vicariously through you and Gwen.

I saw you Friday night but you were too far away to say Hi. Did you take any classes this year?
