It was an exciting day for me. Let me itemize for you:

1. My neighbor stopped over on the way to the neighborhood trash cleanup and mentioned how nice my new plants under the deck look, and what a good job she thinks I'm doing taking care of the place. That was a nice thing to say.

2. I cleaned out the gutters and replaced an elbow in a gutter that had blown off. This involved climbing out two windows and walking around on my roof, both of which are new to me. "She Came In Through the Bathroom Window" was true for me today. Literally. I don't know what that song is really about (and I'm not going to waste my time trying to figure it out, but I came in through the bathroom window.

2. I was putting down mulch in the front yard when the postman stopped by; this was the first time I'd met him. He was very nice, and mentioned how much he appreciated the new mailbox. We chatted about the old box for a moment and then he said that I was one of his favorite people. Of course, this seemed ridiculous having just met me, but it made my day anyway. Then I got to thinking about what someone could tell about me from my mail. I returned my census survey. I knit. I support Minnesota Public Radio and Cincinnati Public Radio. I have a dog and love animals (Bark magazine and Humane Society mail). I get mail from the symphony and opera. I like to cook (Cooks Illustrated and Imbibe). I take care of my house (Angie's List, This Old House and The Family Handyman magazines) Catalogs include Gardener's Supply, Sur la Table, Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn. I think I seem like a great person. :)

I might have gone OUT the bathroom window, but once I was on the roof it would have taken the fire department to get me down

Love how your plant life is coming along!

Glad that your postal carrier has bonded with you. Maybe it's Sadie? Our postal carriers love our neighborhood dogs and our dogs love them. (Can't say any more... it's against postal regulations to hand out dog treats. Administrators' theory: Dogs will get mad when you don't have treats and bite you. Go figure...) Speaking of Sadie, have you seen Wurstwarmer on the Flint Knits blog (or Ravelry)? It's tailored for her! Check it out!
