It Wasn't Just a Rumor

I went to Hobby Lobby today, and while I wasn't there to shop for yarn I still had to stop by the knitting department to check things out, of course. My recent quest is still looming heavy on my mind, so I was checking out the needle holder options when what should my wandering eye spy but this:

Now, if you just gave it a quick glance, you're probably thinking "Whoopee. An orange Chibi. They've been making the colored ones for at least a year now. What's the big deal? Geez, Beth, get with the program." And you'd be right, except you're wrong.

It's more than an orange Chibi.

So, so much more.

It's the mythical smaller bent-tip needle:
(Here you see, on the left two original sized Chibi bent-tip needles, and on the right the three new bent-tip needles.)

I'd heard they were on their way months ago. In fact, I think it was around the time they started sending out the new colors, and for a little while I'd get excited when I saw the new colors thinking they were the new needles, but they never were. In fact, I had given up and purchased two smaller regular tapestry needles at a fabric store. They were better than the giant Chibis on things like sock toes, but still...they weren't bent-tip. I WANTED BENT-TIP! And my recent ponderance of what to use to protect my needles has sent me on a perusal of knitting accessories galore, at knitting stores the internet over, even the Clover website, and there was nary a sign to tip me off that they might actually exist.

But they do. And I have them. And you don't. Nanny nanny boo-boo.

Oh, I sense a stop at my local Hobby Lobby next week, and I didn't even know that smaller bent tip yarn needles existed! But yes, the big ones are too big for fingering yarns.

I love the bent tips - the only thing I use now to graft toes closed.

Just an update to say, my Hobby Lobby was closed the Sunday I stopped by, but my order from Joanns.com arrived yesterday--yes! Orange Chibi with Tapesty bent point needles! I used the smallest one on the baby booties I kitchenered last night! Woo-hoo!

Thanks for mentioning this on your blog--I might never have known otherwise.
